Now that I've finished the base engine for the game, I believe this is a great time to document how I am building the game out and to talk a little bit about the purpose and the goal of Versus.
First the purpose. As an Indie comic book publisher, I'm always looking for ways to engage my current fans and to bring on new ones. Video games are the best medium to reinforce the company brand. Video games allow players to take control of their character and possibly take more of an interest in them. Equally important, they get to see the character in another medium or possibly, for the first time, make the player interested in other products. Finally, as Indie Publishers, we are sometimes limited in the amount of books we can crank out at one time. Therefore, once the book is read, the character's exposure is limited until the next book. This problem is resolved by implementing the characters into other mediums, like video games. Players spend hours gaming and with the right game that means they can spend hours everyday exposed to your character.
